About Halftone Hospital
What is Halftone Hospital?
HH is primarily a repository of free to use assets, textures, brushes, and other resources for artists to use with their favorite digital software. I try to support Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, and Procreate for as many assets as possible. All of them are free to use for any commercial use. It's hosted on Gumroad.
How did it start?
I'm a bit obsessive about organization, and a process nerd. So whenever I made something to help with a project, whether that was a texture, brush, or action set, I'd save it so I could come back and use it later. And the gears started to turn that maybe if it was helpful to me, it would be helpful to others. So I started packaging them up and posting them on Gumroad, free of charge.
How does the 3D printing fit in?
After the first year, I had enough donations to purchase a Prusa MK4 3D printer, and I expanded the operation into 3D printable traditional tools. Nib holders, pen trays, rulers, and other tools primarily for comic artists and cartoonists but suitable for anyone. I just want to keep the tools needed to make comics, accessible for everyone without a monetary barrier. So you can take the free STL's to your local library or maker space and print them yourself in degradeable PLA bioplastic. You can find all STL's on Printables.
Where to next?
Quite honestly, I have worked through packaging up most of the resources I had sitting around, and it's been slow moving with new releases. But I want to keep releasing new packs as I become aware of needs of the community. So don't hesitate to reach out if you have an idea or have a pain point in your creative process.
